چکیده
Loggerhead sea turtle Caretta caretta is widely distributed in the oceans of tropical and subtropical latitude. This turtle is an endangered species due to anthropic and natural factors that have decreased their population levels. In this study, RNA sequencing and de-novo assembly of genes expressed in blood were performed. The raw FASTQ files have been deposited on NCBI's SRA database with accession number SRX2629512. A total of 5.4 Gb raw sequence data were obtained, corresponding to 48,257,019 raw reads. Trinity pipeline was used to perform a de-novo assembly, we were able to identify 64,930 transcripts for female loggerhead turtle transcriptome with an N50 of 1131 bp. The obtained transcriptome data will be useful for further studies of the physiology, biochemistry and evolution in this species.

The hawksbill sea turtle, Eretmochelys imbricata, is an endangered species of the Caribbean Colombian coast due to anthropic and natural factors that have decreased their population levels. Little is known about the genes that are involved in their immune system, sex determination, aging and others important functions. The data generated represents RNA sequencing and the first de-novo assembly ...
متن کاملClustering of Short Read Sequences for de novo Transcriptome Assembly
Given the importance of transcriptome analysis in various biological studies and considering thevast amount of whole transcriptome sequencing data, it seems necessary to develop analgorithm to assemble transcriptome data. In this study we propose an algorithm fortranscriptome assembly in the absence of a reference genome. First, the contiguous sequencesare generated using de Bruijn graph with d...
متن کاملDune vegetation fertilization by nesting sea turtles.
Sea turtle nesting presents a potential pathway to subsidize nutrient-poor dune ecosystems, which provide the nesting habitat for sea turtles. To assess whether this positive feedback between dune plants and turtle nests exists, we measured N concentration and delta15N values in dune soils, leaves from a common dune plant (sea oats [Uniola paniculata]), and addled eggs of loggerhead (Caretta ca...
متن کاملEvaluation of hematological and plasma biochemical parameters in green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas Linnaeus, 1758) from nesting colonies of the northern coast the Sea of Oman
The green turtle (Chelonia mydas) has been a species of global concern for decades. As an attempt to study health status of nesting green turtles, Blood biochemistry and hematological values were obtained from 18 clinically normal, nesting female green sea turtles on the northern coast of the sea of Oman. Mean curved carapace length (CCL) was 111±4 cm with a range of 103—122 cm. Barnacles were ...
متن کاملGlobal Phylogeography of the Loggerhead Turtle (caretta Caretta) as Indicated by Mitochondrial Dna Haplotypes.
Restriction-site analyses of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) from the loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) reveal substantial phylogeographic structure among major nesting populations in the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific oceans and the Mediterranean sea. Based on 176 samples from eight nesting populations, most breeding colonies were distinguished from other assayed nesting locations by diagnostic...
